Greetings!

 

This email is about exactly TWO things: 

 

1.  DONATIONS:  To my surprise (shock and horror), I talked to several people recently who did not realize that the PRIVATE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN IS CRITICAL.  This money is being raised in a partnership among Keep the Woods, the Ethel Walker School, Farmington River Watershed Association, and Farmington Valley Trout Unlimited.  The $2.75 million is not coming from some unknown outside source.  It is coming from the tireless efforts of individuals who care about preserving this land.  We are 100% focused on our goal, but WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS. 

 

BOTH THE PUBLIC MONIES AND PRIVATE MONIES ARE NEEDED TO PRESERVE THIS LAND.  It passed the vote for the public monies, but this is not over.  We have somewhere around $1.2 million dollars.  I don’t know how I can make it any clearer – we need you and anyone you know to step up.  If you sent in a pledge, send in the money!  If you have ideas for fundraising, especially ones that you could spearhead / help with, send them in!

2.  Get your tickets for the event of the year!

 

The fundraiser on January 20^th will add to our efforts; and those of you who attended last time can verify that it was PURE FUN – there are NO HEAVY SPEECHES, just good people, good food and an entertaining live auction.  The live and silent auction has something for everyone – unique items, travel packages and more.  Read all about it at:

Tickets will be available this Wednesday at our regular Keep the Woods meeting, 7:00 PM at the Maple Tree Café in Simsbury.
