Woody biomass and options for “junk wood”
Woody biomass is wood waste. Much of it can be left in the forest after a harvest, and there are many downstream uses for wood waste. These uses could support local businesses and partnerships between farmers and foresters. Portable sawmills, compost, mulch, animal bedding, etc are all ways to keep resources, money and jobs LOCAL. Adding compost increases soil carbon.
Is burning wood renewable energy?
No. It is carbon intensive, dirty, and heavily subsided. Read more at www.pfpi.net and www.woodsmokepollution.org
