Ethel Walker’s Plan
In May 2005 the Ethel Walker School put forth a preliminary plan to develop the wooded property on the west side of Bushy Hill Road. They propose 122 large homes on 168 acres. The total amount of land owned by the school on the west side of the road is over 450 acres, of which approximately 100 is used currently by equestrian-related buildings, arenas, etc. An additional 95 acres of the land is protected wetland. While they contend that they plan to leave trees on the building sites and incorporate wildlife “corridors” and a nature trail, virtually all of the parcel will be utilized for development.
